Essay
Volunteers are involved in many capacities - as coaches, managers, referees, organizers, or members of club executives. Some are former (or current) players who are giving something back to the game. Many are parents who have little or no soccer experience and get involved for the first time when their children start playing.
In about 300 words, discuss how important volunteers have been in providing opportunities for you and your friends to play soccer, and what plans you have to remain involved with soccer in the future. Attach your essay to this form.

Gregory P Pentz Memorial Bursary
Greg Pentz played soccer for many years as a youth. He became a referee as soon as he was old enough. As a teenager he was both a player and a referee. When circumstances made it difficult for him to continue playing, he continued refereeing. In this way, he was giving something back to the game he loved. He understood the importance of being involved, and thus became a role model for other players. We remember him for his contribution, and want to raise an awareness in other players of the need to become involved in other capacities.
We are pleased to be able to remember him by offering the Gregory P Pentz Memorial Bursary. We are offering four $500 awards annually to deserving students within the boundaries of the Suburban District and it’s member clubs. In doing so, we hope more players will follow his lead, become involved in other capacities, and give something back to the game.
To be eligible, you:
1. must be accepted at a post-secondary institution (university, college, technical school, trade school, etc) in a program leading to a degree/diploma, and
2. for the last 4 years, either
a) played for a Suburban District club(s), or
b) was a coach or assistant coach for a Suburban District club(s) in seasons when you did not play, or
c) was a referee within the Suburban District in seasons when you did not play,
Suburban Distrct clubs include Suburban FC, Scotia Soccer Club, Bedford Soccer Association, Sackville United Soccer Association, and East Hants Soccer Association
